MediaSpan Software has named Roger Retke Vice President of Product Management. MediaSpan Online Services has hired Charlie Ponger to be Director of Sales for its Newspaper and Radio segments and MediaSpan Network has named David Gordon Director of Network Ad Sales.

As Vice President of Product Development for Media Software, Mr. Retke, 44, will drive pre-press software development strategy out of MediaSpan’s Ann Arbor facility. Mr. Retke has more than 20 years experience in product management, software development and technology marketing. Most recently, he managed financial information alerting and wireless delivery projects at Reuters Financial Software, as Capability and Project Development Manager at their Paris, France office. He has also held positions with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and its subsidiary A. T. Kearney, and managed a division of the National Library of New Zealand. Additionally, Mr. Retke was General Manager of Xpress Publishing Systems, integrating and installing pre-press systems for newspapers and advertising agencies in Australia. He holds an MBA from the University of Melbourne Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Berkeley.
Mr. Ponger, 48, the new Director of Sales for MediaSpan Online Services, was most recently Interactive General Manager at the Tribune Corporation from 2000-2006, where he directed all operations for their Southern Connecticut Newspapers group. Prior to that, Mr. Ponger held various senior-level business development and sales positions in on- and offline media with companies such as Internet Broadcasting Systems, Clear Channel Communications and Second Generation Broadcasting. Mr. Ponger will be working out of MediaSpan’s New York City office.
Mr. Gordon, 37, the new Director of Network Ad Sales, is an advertising industry veteran who has worked both in online search and B-to-B sales and marketing. Previously, Mr. Gordon was a Business Development Director with I-Crossing where he sold search marketing services to Fortune 500 clients. Prior to I-Crossing, Mr. Gordon developed and sold search marketing campaigns for Miva Media, and was a National Account Executive at Crain Communications’ BtoB Magazine. Mr. Gordon is a graduate of Tufts University and will manage East Coast advertising sales out of MediaSpan’s New York City office.
